Volunteers Needed for the Contemporary Urban Centre NW.
Opening with the Liverpool Art Prize 2008 exhibition on Feb 28 and the Hawkins & Co exhibition on March 6, volunteer staff are urgently required for invigilating and possibly other duties.
The CUC – North West is a phenomenal building that offers an extensive range of facilities that provide businesses and the general public alike a venue in Liverpool to be truly proud of. It has been developed over a period of seven years, in a close partnership with local community groups and the city.
The venue covers 170,000 sq feet within a Grade 2 listed converted warehouse in a prominent location close to the city centre. It lies within an area of Liverpool increasingly labeled the 'Independent Arts Quarter' and is a major regeneration catalyst for the area.

There will be a volunteers induction this Friday 22/02/08 at 10.30 at the CUC but don't worry if you miss that, its not too late.

"We re-invigorate worn out areas (some people call it regeneration).
We build it all ourselves, working with great architects, and public sector partners.
We do big ideas. Like sustainability, and community, and progress. We do new ideas, like finding the best chippy in the world. Like building new canals.
Sometimes we use old buildings, and keep what’s good. Sometimes we build new buildings. Either way, we aim to do it well.
We do it first. We are first in to places that others ignore. We have a reputation for taking on difficult buildings. But we don’t see them as difficult. We see them as amazing.
And we do the extras. We make public spaces that feel right. We build streets and squares. We don’t stop where others might, because we believe that’s the right thing to do.
We think everywhere can be special."
North West accountants Duncan Sheard Glass (DSG) have generously offered to be main sponsors for the Liverpool Art Prize. This is fantastic news for the Liverpool art scene. Members of the DSG board have a genuine love for art and a long history of supporting local artists.
We are really looking forward to working with them this year and, hopefully, many years to come.
The Liverpool office of DSG is in Castle Street, you can find more information on their website:
Also joining the list of sponsors are another great local company, Urban Splash the property developers. Many thanks to them.
With another donation from artinliverpool.com this means that we can confirm that the overall Prize Winner will receive a £2000 cash prize for 2008
